The Continuing Education department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course Crisis Intervention (351-407-LA).



This course prepares students to effectively manage and intervene in crisis situations, with a focus on safety and well-being. Students will learn to collect relevant information, accurately interpret the emotional and physical state of the client. They will also assess risks, which include potential aggression, injury, and suicide. The course emphasizes the importance of identifying immediate needs and how to apply de-escalation methods. It also focuses on providing thorough post-crisis follow-up, reviewing the situation and suggesting additional actions. Students will be trained in techniques that promote empowerment to ensure they choose methods that improve their intervention skills. Additionally, the course stresses the adoption of behaviors consistent with professional ethics, fostering a responsible approach to crisis management.


Required Qualifications :




Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline and 2 years teaching experience. Teaching experience in special care counselling or a related program such as counselling or clinical psychology is an asset. Must hold valid Crisis Intervention certification and Suicide Prevention training. This course is taught in English; proficiency in English is required.
