Position Title

Hospitality Services Coordinator


Position Summary


Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at Red Deer Polytechnic? As the Hospitality Services Coordinator, you would be the lead person responsible for coordinating and executing many exciting conferences and events hosted on campus. The Hospitality Services Coordinator provides optimal client satisfaction while maintaining or growing revenue.



We welcome you to the Ancillary and Sport Services Team as our permanent, full-time Hospitality Services Coordinator.


Position Responsibilities


As the Hospitality Services Coordinator you will have responsibilities in the following areas:



Operations Coordination


Manages and/or coordinates the operation of internal and external events in RDP properties. Assists external and internal clients in all facets of the planning and delivery of requested events. Negotiates client contracts and rates as required.





Human Resources Management


Responsible for recruitment, hiring, initiates performance management, and where necessary, in compliance with People & Culture policies and procedures, FOIPP and collective agreements, escalates issues & actions of disciplinary nature to supervisor. Approves, monitors and reports vacation, sick time and lieu time and overtime for all staff under direct supervision. Conducts performance enhancement process in accordance with standard practice and collective agreements. Coordinates and maintains volunteer list. Recruits new volunteers as needed.



Financial Coordination


Deposits monies and maintain floats for functions as required according to RDP cash handling policies. Arranges for Moneris machine as required. Prepares electronic charge backs for internal and external requests. Provides budget input for annual budget and capital requests. Works with supervisor to ensure annual revenue targets are met or exceeded. Provides recommendations for annual fee setting. Prepares event contracts and invoices.


Required Qualifications


Two (2) years of post-secondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent in Business Administration, Recreation, Event Management, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Fine Arts AGLC ProServe First Aid/CPR Food Safe Class 5 Drivers License All employees in this position are to provide a satisfactory Check in accordance with the Institution's Criminal Record Check Policy prior to the start of their employment Experience in Events Management and Volunteer coordination Competency with MS Office products (Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel) Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to engage effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as external contacts

Demonstrated evidence of contributing to your community through community service Expert planning, coordination and organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail and accuracy Demonstrated collaborative approach that values open and honest communication, integrity, respect, consistency and fairness

Additional time off due to Institution closures between Christmas and New Year general holidays.

Eligibility to access the above mentioned benefits dependent upon the AUPE Collective Agreement and related RDP policies.
