Job Description

Position Overview Reporting to the Master Grower, the Horticulture Associate is responsible for the care and growth through the lifecycle of cannabis plants within Canna Farms. The Horticulture Associate performs tasks to support growing processes including but not limited to propagation, up pot, pruning, fanning, and ensuring production of high quality, healthy and prolific cannabis plants. This individual will provide quality care and attention to the growing process of the plants from Mother to flower. The Horticulture Associate will ensure and will be responsible for proper documentation of various activities during the lifecycles of crops. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all the tasks in the growing process according to the Master Plan/Schedule including cloning, transplanting, fertigation, defoliation, sanitation and topping.
  • Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain compliance with Health Canada regulations.
  • Diligently follows SOPs in accordance with GPP guidelines.
  • Maintain concise daily records and ensure documentation is accessible and organized in a compliant manner as per QA guidelines.
  • Apply knowledge/awareness of preventative maintenance of plant diseases, insects, and fungi.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist with additional tasks as assigned.
  • Must be comfortable with Pruning, defoliating, and general plant care, specific to Cannabis plants.
  • Responsible to ensure the organizations performance standards are met through various growing and plant health activities.
  • Stock plant maintenance, cloning, irrigation, pest control, climate control, and the scheduling of propagation.
  • Coordinate timely and effective pest and disease control measure as required.
  • Communicate and escalate all issues with a crop and/or the production process to all relevant parties as required.
  • Recommend, perform, and coordinate correct actions such as the removal, isolation, or destruction of plants.
  • Ensure crop growth specifications are acceptable by meeting or exceeding the company?s goals, objectives, and KPI?s.
  • Monitor daily activities to determine opportunities for improvement in productivity, efficiency, and quality.
  • Establish, manage, and report optimization projects as approved.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure timely and effective operations, including facility maintenance.
  • Recognize unsafe conditions and practices and makes corrections to prevent injuries and product loss.
  • Must adhere to Canna Farms SOPs and comply with Health Canada?s Cannabis Act. In addition, must adhere to all ISO requirements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Promote and maintain GACP requirements.
  • Promote and maintain all GMP requirements.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment and rooms according to SOP?s.
  • Position details and activities may change from time to time to meet operational needs.
Qualifications and Skills
Academic/Educational Requirements ? Minimum of grade 12 diploma. Required Skills/Experience/Knowledge ? Must have meticulous attention to detail. ? Minimum 2 years? experience growing in the legal cannabis or horticulture industry. ? Understanding of plant physiology an asset. ? Must be able to pass a background check. ? Must be able to stand for long periods of time. ? Must be able to carry out often repetitive tasks at a continuously high level of quality. ? Willingness and flexibility to complete any task that may be required. ? Customer-centric, commercial driven mindset. ? Positive can-do attitude; entrepreneurial spirit with a bias for action. ? Champion of high-performance culture through engagement with company?s performance management process and provision of meaningful feedback. ? Ability to thrive & succeed in a fast-paced growth environment. ? High degree of collaboration working cross functionally and geographically. ? Excellent learning agility with a hunger to become knowledgeable in the space. ? Previous Health Canada Security Clearance and work experience with a Canadian Licensed Producer (LP) is considered as an asset. ? Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, as per Health Canada's Cannabis Act. ? Ability to follow direction and coaching from direct supervisors. ? Maintain concentration while completing repetitive tasks. ? Meet company standards within the task assigned. ? Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as a team. ? Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned. ? Demonstrate a passion for the industry and working knowledge of cannabis products. ? Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimum supervision; to prioritize and resolve problems; to complete tasks while working under pressure with multiple interruptions. ?
