Honouring Our Journey
is a transition, healing and education program for youth, adults, and transgender individuals who have been exploited/trafficked through the sex trade.
Divided into three programs - youth, mentor, and adult - all programs offer opportunities and supports for healing, personal development, and growth.
The Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination and support of the youth and adult programs in Honouring our Journey. This role includes providing support and supervision to case managers and community outreach workers in the development of individual support plans, education plans, etc.
Responsibilities include
(but are not limited to)
Coordinates, develops, and implements ongoing supports in recreational, educational, and cultural activities.
Ensures that service area goals and participant goals are established and implemented.
Provides support to program staff on participant plans, crisis response, etc.
Assists with ongoing research and development of service area-specific curriculum and activities.
Identifies gaps in services and problem areas and provides recommendations to the manager.
Attends and participates in various community events, cultural/ recreational activities, and supports service area outings as required.
Oversees and facilitates service area partnerships with external agencies/community organizations
Oversees student practicum placements. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
Provides supervision, evaluation and performance management
Facilitates regular staff meetings with their team. Coordinates and oversees training activities.
Identifies gaps in services and problem areas and provides recommendations to the manager.
Assists with service area evaluation and collection of data as required.
Assists in developing proposals for new service area initiatives, including assisting with grant/funding proposals as assigned by the manager.
Receives budget for the year and monitors expenditures within that budget.
Responsible for the program bank card and ensuring the recaps are submitted monthly.
Qualifications and requirements for this role:
Three (3) years of experience in office administration, supervision, reporting, evaluation and/or training.
Diploma or degree in Business Administration or related education, or an equivalent combination of experience and education (may include Indigenous studies, social work, psychology, counselling, etc.).
Experience working with at-risk individuals and other vulnerable populations is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Experience working from a trauma-informed perspective is preferred.
Knowledge and experience in the issues and supports related to addictions, harm reduction strategies, and mental health would be considered an asset.
Valid First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills) certifications would be considered an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, Work, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
The salary range for this 70-hour bi-weekly position is $33.90 to $42.71 per hour dependent upon education and/or experience. This position is eligible for a full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan).
The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, and Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks. A recent Driver's Abstract must be provided.
