Job Overview





Reporting to the Patient Care Coordinator, the Homemaker is responsible for providing homemaking services and personal/senior care to Haisla Nation community members who need support, ensuring a safe and caring environment and enabling them to remain living at home in supported independence for as long as possible.

We have lived off the land and waters of our traditional territory for thousands of years, and it remains the focus of all we do.


Duties & Responsibilities




Assist clients with cleaning and housekeeping duties, including but not limited to meal preparation; meal clean-up; laundry; vacuuming; mopping and sweeping floors; cleaning countertops, appliances, sinks and toilet bowels; garbage disposal and recycling; and keeping the ground tidy and litter-free. Responsible for doing the household weekly grocery and shopping. Visit with clients and provide in-home companionship. Participate in the implementation of personalized plans for health and safety, social, recreational and life skills activities to meet the individual needs of people being supported. Transport clients to medical appointments or shopping as required. Maintain awareness of any problems (medical and behavioral, or other) experienced by clients and inform manager in person or through written communication. Establish and maintain trusting and professional relationships with clients. Maintain a record of hours, duration of service, and services provided. Provide services in accordance with health and safety protocols and procedures. Participate in relevant training and workshops to enhance program services. Other Duties as Required.

Skills & Qualifications




High-school diploma. Patient Care Aide (PCA) or Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. Food Safe Level 1 certificate. First Aid, Level 1 preferred. Experience working in homemaking or home support environment an asset. Experience working for a band government or Indigenous organization an asset. Good cooking skills. Ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to handle complex and emotionally challenging situations. Compassionate, empathetic, and patient with a strong commitment to supporting the well-being of community members. Ability to establish and maintain respectful, cooperative and productive working relationships with a variety of individuals. Valid BC driver's license and own vehicle is required. Satisfactory completion of criminal records check (with vulnerable sector screening if relevant).

: $26.39/hr - $32.60/hr

Experience




Required1 year(s): Patient Care Aide (PCA) or Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.
