Home Sharing is an individualized living arrangement in which one or two adults with an intellectual disability live in a home of contracted caregiver who provides support.
We currently have a 63 year old female with developmental delay urgently looking for a homeshare.
IDS' caregivers are all residents on the North Shore and their homes provide a variety of accommodations; from a basement suite with basic cooking and laundry facilities, to a bedroom in a fully accessible home which has adaptive equipment as needed.
Contractors may be a single person, a family with children, or a couple, and IDS strives to ensure that the home environment best matches the individual's wishes.
Home sharing is funded by Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) and is no-cost for the individual.
Support may include provision of/or assistance with the following:
Personal care
Meal preparation
Transportation
Shopping for groceries, clothing, and personal needs
Medication ordering and management
General household duties such as laundry and cleaning
Managing the individual's finances
Managing the individual's health care needs
Facilitation of recreation activities and community resources
Maintaining and building on personal relationships with family and friends
Helping the individual to achieve the goals from their Person-Centered Plan
The Home Sharing Coordinator monitors the living arrangement and, once the home share is up and running, typically visits the home once every 4 to 6 weeks.
Providers/Caregivers submit monthly reports to the Program Coordinator, and the Coordinator is available for ongoing support to assist with the continuation of the placement and to complete and follow up on the Person-Centered Plan.
IDS screens potential contractors through: interviews, references, relevant experience.
Pay varies depending on the amount of support the individual may require. At a minimum, the pay will start from $2,460.00/month + $841 shelter fee.
