Carpenters/Home Renovators at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Home Renovators use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

Responsible for...



The multi-talented Home Renovator is skilled in the following ways:

Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts Framing Flooring Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included) Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing Insulation and vapour barrier installation Being awesome, in general! Installation Doors Trim, moldings, and baseboards Hardware installation Cabinetry

The Home Renovator brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a 'get it done!' attitude. Additional abilities required include:

Experience working in construction environments Willingness to cross train into other departments Tools and the skills to use them Strong people and communication skills Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do A safety mindset Valid drivers license Ability to pass a criminal record check Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that'll help you be successful but isn't mandatory:



Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker) IICRC certification (restoration focus) WHMIS First Aid

Of Note



Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour

Is your Carpentry experience from employment or personal or combination of both? Please explain: Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid. Cross training is required for this role. Successful candidates will be trained in Emergency, Demolition and Water Damage . Are you able and willing to train and work in other roles? Restoration work can be dirty. Flooded basements and sewer backups are the norm. Are you able and willing to work in these conditions? This position requires someone who can go into a home that had flood or fire damage and be able to complete the repairs: drywall, painting, fixing damage using rough and trim carpentry and other applicable skills. Please describe why you would be the best fit for this job: Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday. Do you have basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience? Are you comfortable operating a phone to navigate through applications and record info as instructed? Are you physically fit? This position can be physically demanding and requires a person to lift, bend, crouch, reach, kneel, etc.
Experience:

rough carpentry: 1 year (preferred) drywalling/ drywall repairs/ patching: 1 year (preferred) brush and roller painting: 1 year (preferred) trim carpentry: 1 year (preferred) home renovation: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

Canadian Driver's License (required)
Work Location: In person
