V3 Preparatory Academy delivers a Ministry-Inspected and NCAA-approved high-performance academic program for elite student-athletes. Position Overview
V3 Preparatory Academy seeks an experienced, innovative Science Teacher to develop, instruct, and assess a suite of asynchronous online science courses. Courses align with the Ontario Curriculum, Growing Success assessment policies, and are delivered via our virtual learning platform. You will engage and support students as they pursue science credits required for graduation and post-secondary pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Develop high-quality, engaging asynchronous course content and assessments for the following subjects: SNC1D, SNC1W, SNC2D, SBI3U, SCH3U, SPH3U, SVN3M, SNC3M, ICS3U, SBI4U, SCH4U, SPH4U, SES4U, SNC4M, ICS4U.
Ensure all lesson materials, labs, assignments, and assessments align with Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum documents and current Growing Success assessment practices.
Design and moderate online course discussions, respond to student inquiries, and provide timely, detailed feedback on assessments.
Evaluate and report on student achievement using Ontario achievement chart categories (Knowledge/Understanding, Thinking/Investigation, Communication, Application), following school methodology for both formative and summative assessment tasks.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student progress, communicating achievement via school reporting cycles (midterm, final, ongoing as needed).
Offer online office hours, tutorials, and support to promote student understanding and engagement.
Collaborate with administrative and guidance staff to support individual student learning needs, including IEPs, accommodations, and modifications.
Participate in course review, professional development, and compliance activities to maintain ministry inspection standards.
Integrate appropriate educational technology and digital tools to enhance student learning and accessibility.
Model academic integrity and foster a respectful, inclusive online community consistent with V3's values.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science or a related discipline; Master's degree an asset.
Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in Intermediate/Senior Science (required).
Successful experience teaching Ontario secondary science courses.
Demonstrated expertise in asynchronous/online teaching, curriculum development, and assessment practices based on Growing Success.
Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
Proficiency with developing courses in educational technologies and LMS platforms, specifically Moodle.
Experience supporting diverse learners, including international students and athletes balancing academic and athletic commitments.
Assets
Previous experience in private/independent schools or with asynchronous course delivery.
Passion for developing student-athletes and understanding of high-performance educational environments.
Familiarity with NCAA/USport academic eligibility standards or student transition to post-secondary studies.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 months
Pay: $20.18-$37.23 per hour
