About the Role

As a High School Math/Science Tutor, you will deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned instruction to students in Grades 9-12. Your focus will be on building student confidence and mastery in subjects such as Algebra, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Data Management, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality 2:1 instruction in math and/or science to high school students. Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique learning styles and needs of each student. Support students in developing strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Create and implement effective lesson plans aligned with provincial curriculum standards. Track and communicate student progress, offering constructive feedback and encouragement. Contribute to a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or completed a post-secondary program in math, science, or education (Teacher's College students welcome). Previous experience tutoring or working with students is considered an asset. Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Passionate about helping students achieve academic success. Comfortable teaching in a 2:1 student-teacher ratio. Proficient in teaching high school-level math and/or science up to Grade 12. Must successfully complete subject proficiency assessments.

Availability

Minimum commitment

: 6 hours per week.

Shifts

: Monday to Thursday, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm; Saturday, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week
