Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating modern learning technology and instructional design principles.
Teach a wide range of math subjects including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, differential equations, and higher education topics as appropriate.
Create an engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes active participation, critical thinking, and collaborative learning.
Assess student progress through standardized testing, quizzes, projects, and formative assessments; provide timely feedback to support growth.
Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques.
Mentor students individually or in groups to enhance understanding of complex concepts such as genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, organic chemistry, dissection techniques, and scientific research methods.
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and educational research initiatives; participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.
Support students' academic advising needs and provide guidance on college readiness or career pathways related to STEM fields.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavioral reports while ensuring compliance with school policies.
Engage with parents or guardians through conferences to discuss student progress and foster a supportive learning community.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education or a related STEM field; Master's degree preferred.
Proven experience teaching high school mathematics with a strong understanding of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, differential equations, and higher-level math topics.
Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with effective communication skills suited for diverse student populations.
Experience working with students with varying learning needs including special education accommodations or Montessori methods is advantageous.
Familiarity with learning technology tools such as interactive whiteboards, educational software platforms, and digital assessment tools.
Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and instructional strategies for tutoring or test preparation environments.
Ability to design engaging lessons that incorporate research laboratory experiences or science components like genetics or microbiology when applicable.
Strong organizational skills for lesson planning, proofreading educational materials, and maintaining detailed records.
