Summary
We are seeking a passionate Instructor for the Mature Student High School Diploma (MSHSD) program who will be responsible for preparing unit and lesson plans, submitting various reports and attendance records, and providing instruction to students enrolled in the program. This unique, culturally-infused program is aligned with the Manitoba curriculum and assists learners in completing their Mature Student High School Diploma through an inclusive and respectful approach. The full-time instructor position requires teaching throughout the school year, with two classes delivered daily across four terms, each lasting 9 to 10 weeks.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles.
Provide individualized support and tutoring to students as needed.
Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
Assess and report on student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices.
Develop course descriptions for each course taught, which include general and specific objectives, course topics, goals, rationale, evaluation methods, texts and references used, methods of delivery, the name, course number and number of course hours.
Submit attendance reports, mid-term and final marks, and other reports as necessary, such as incident and progress reports, to the MSHSD Program Coordinator and the Director of YQUC.
Recommend texts, resources and reference materials and supplies as required for all classes taught for ordering.
Assist in providing information on college programs and in the promotion of the college at career events.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
A minimum of a Bachelor of Education degree and a valid Permanent Manitoba Professional Teacher's Certificate
Experience in classroom teaching, particularly at the high school level
Experience working in adult education with Indigenous students
Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent computer skills and experience using the Microsoft 365 Copilot platform
Ability to develop original and appropriate documents
Ability to write and orally communicate clear instructions
Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
Superior organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
Completion of a Criminal Record Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check
Valid Class 5 Manitoba driver's license and reliable vehicle
