Camp Counsellors are responsible for ensuring the successful day-to-day implementation of direct program delivery in our Health & Fitness centres in an indoor environment. They will ensure that participants have a positive experience in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment.


In This Role, You Will:




Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities and games for participants. Take attendance, ensure participants are signed into and out of the program. Set up and take down recreational, program and other equipment as required - at the same time checking that equipment is safe and in good repair (reporting immediately all malfunctions and removing the damaged equipment immediately from circulation). Actively participate in recreational swim daily, while ensuring a safe aquatics experience for children. In collaboration with individual program members, program volunteers and YMCA program staff, assist and encourage program members to access additional appropriate programs offered at this location. Perform other related duties to fulfill commitment to quality programs for all members as assigned from time to time by supervisor.

You Bring:




Current certification in the following award: Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid and CPR level C Experience working with children and youth in a recreational setting an asset The minimum age to apply for this position is 16 years old Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers Excellent verbal and written communication skills Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including weekday mornings and afternoons throughout the Winter and March Break
