Haematological Pathology Opportunity

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Moncton Hospital is looking for a full time Haematopathologist to join their team. The successful candidate will join a congenial group of laboratory physicians consisting of seven anatomical pathologists, one medical biochemist, two microbiologists, one neuropathologist and hematopathologist. They cover a full spectrum of anatomic pathology, cytology and hematopathology cases in addition to having a very active service in chemistry, microbiology and transfusion medicine and have a new state of the art lab facility.

The Moncton Hospital is a 386-bed tertiary and critical care facility within Horizon Health Network. It is a major referral hospital which serves communities throughout New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northern Nova Scotia. It is a Level II Trauma Centre which offers tertiary services in neurosurgery, oncology and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties.

REMUNERATION:

Remuneration for the position is based on New Brunswick Medicare\'s Alternate Funding Plan (AFP) for Laboratory Medicine, based on credentials and experience. Total annual estimated funding $410,000.00. Financial provision to support the physician\'s practice is also available.

INCENTIVES:

- Moving Expense Allowance

- A recruitment incentive of $50,000 may be available subject to the approval of the Department of Health and Program eligibility. (Return of Service required.)

- Opportunity to teach with faculty appointments available with Dalhousie Medical School ( ) and Memorial University of Newfoundland ( ).

EXPECTED START DATE:
As soon as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine requires certification or fellowship in Hematological Pathology of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or eligibility to write the examination for Fellowship in Hematological Pathology, membership of the Royal College of Pathologists (England and Ireland), certification in Hematopathology by the American Board of Pathology, certification by la Corporation professionnelle des m\xc3\xa9decins du Qu\xc3\xa9bec.

Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick. .
