Summit Equipment Ltd. is seeking a skilled and dependable
Heavy Equipment Refurbishment Technician
to join our growing team. This position combines elements of
mechanical work, body and paint prep, and equipment detailing
. You'll take worn or weathered machines -- such as aerial lifts and forklifts -- and restore them to professional, ready-for-sale condition.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and understands how to safely take machines apart and put them back together with precision.
Key Responsibilities
Disassemble and reassemble equipment
(panels, cabs, covers, guards, booms, etc.) for repair, painting, or cleaning
Organize and label parts
to ensure correct reassembly -- maintaining order throughout each project
Clean, degrease, and pressure wash
machines, including hard-to-reach components and undercarriages
Sand, grind, and prep
metal surfaces for painting or touch-ups
Mask, prime, and apply paint
using spray systems (training available)
Detail operator compartments
, removing dirt, grease, and overspray; replace decals and safety labels
Inspect and report
any damaged or missing parts, assisting with parts orders or repairs as needed
Support the mechanical and service team
during rebuilds or reconditioning projects
Maintain a
clean, organized, and safe work area
Qualifications
Experience with
mechanical disassembly and reassembly
(automotive, heavy equipment, or machinery)
Comfortable using
hand and power tools
(impacts, grinders, sanders, wrenches, etc.)
Experience with
painting, detailing, or pressure washing
preferred
Excellent
attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically active environment
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow detailed instructions
Valid driver's license and dependable transportation to our Hamilton (rural Dundas) location
