Intent of the process

Gagetown, New Brunswick:


The intent of this process is to fill two (2) positions on a seasonal indeterminate (permanent) basis in Gagetown (New Brunswick).

Please note: one (1) of the available positions is bilingual imperative (-B/-B).


Seasonal indeterminate positions include working during an on season and includes a lay-off period during the off season.


Shilo, Manitoba:


The intent of this process is to fill two (2) positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Shilo, Manitoba.


Edmonton, Alberta:


The intent of this process is to fill two (2) positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Edmonton, Alberta.


Petawawa, Ontario:


The intent of this process is to fill four (4) positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Petawawa, Ontario.


A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

OC1: Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 1 (Class A or D in Ontario) driver's license with air brake endorsement valid in the province of work.

Note: Restriction number one (glasses) is not applicable.


EXPERIENCE

EX1: Experience in operating heavy equipment with hydraulics related to the position being staffed such as a backhoe, grader, dump truck, excavator, or bulldozer.




GAGETOWN:


For positions located in Gagetown, NB, the following assets will be invoked as essential and candidates that do not meet them will not be considered further:



AEX1: Experience in snow and ice operations.

AEX3: Experience in operating a grader.



SHILO:


For positions located in Shilo, MB, the following assets will be invoked as essential and candidates that do not meet them will not be considered further:

ASSET EXPERIENCE


AEX1: Experience in snow and ice operations.


AEX2: Experience in road maintenance and construction.

AEX3: Experience in operating a grader.

AEX4: Experience in performing operator inspection and maintenance on heavy construction vehicles such as graders, bulldozers, backhoes, snow and ice equipment, etc.


AEX5: Experience operating powered Materiel Handling Equipment.

AEX6: Experience in handling and tying down loads on vehicles or trailers.

AEX7: Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as, Excel, Word and Outlook.

AEX8: Experience working with DND transportation policies.

AEX9: Experience in supervision.

AEX10: Experience in operating a tractor or bus.

ABILITY

AB1: Ability to safely operate heavy equipment with hydraulics related to the position being staffed such as a dump truck, plow truck, grader, or loader.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Operational Requirements may vary or be exchanged with Conditions of Employment, depending on the position to be filled. These may include:

Willing and able to wear Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved safety footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed. Willing and able to work in inclement weather conditions. Willing and able to work standby, overtime and occasionally on weekends and holidays. Must be willing to work a shift schedule. Willing and able to perform physically demanding tasks including safely lift and carry 25 kg, bending, climbing stairs and climbing into heavy equipment. Willing and able to be mobile within various areas of responsibility, depending on the position being staffed. Willing and able to attend employer directed training. Willing and able to obtain and retain a DND 404. Willing and able to maintain and produce a driver's logbook.

Conditions of Employment may vary depending on the position to be filled. These may include

Possession and maintenance of a valid unrestricted Class 1 (Ontario Class A or D) driver's license with air brake endorsement valid in the province of work.

(Note: Restriction 1, glasses is not applicable)

Must be willing to obtain and maintain a DND Driver's Licence (DND 404). An acceptable driver's abstract provided within 30 days of request, dated no earlier than 30 days prior to the request.
Acceptable as determined by management. Must wear Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved safety footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed. Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks including safely lift and carry 25 kg, bend, climb stairs and climb into heavy equipment. Must be willing and able to work a shift schedule. Must be willing and able to work overtime as authorized. Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather conditions. Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.
