The De Beers Group of Companies has an opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Engineering & Site Services Department at the Gahcho Ku\xc3\xa9 Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor and working a two (2) week in / two (2) week out rotation, this position is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe manner to assist daily task related to operational requirements of the mine such as site snow removal, supplies and material movement and contractor support. The ideal candidate would be one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

What the Role Entails:
  • Works with team to conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans.
  • Keeps work areas organized and clean;
  • Follows occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Carries out activities while being mindful of environmental impacts;
  • Selects the proper equipment needed to execute movements;
  • Inspects assigned mobile equipment properly before use;
  • Handles all equipment with utmost care and follows proper operations practices.
  • Moves equipment and materials to the right sites according to schedule;
  • Takes responsibility for the equipment and tools provided to do the work.
  • Implement and uphold maintenance programs.
  • Reports any issue that may cause potential damage to equipment or its peripherals; and
  • Puts all materials and equipment back to their assigned places.
Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the role resides within the Site Services department. This is a site-based position working a two (2) weeks in/ two (2) weeks out rotation.

Preference given to members of the Lutsel K\'e Dene First Nation; Deninu Ku\xc3\xa9, , North Slave M\xc3\xa9tis Alliance, Northwest Territory M\xc3\xa9tis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation and residents of the NWT.

Qualifications
  • Must have minimum of 5 years experience grading gravel runways and performing runway maintenance;
  • Valid Driver\'s license or the ability to obtain a site license;
  • Experience operating mobile equipment such as vac trucks, winch trucks, excavators, graders, loaders, haul trucks (5 - 7 years);
  • Knowledge of safe work practices;
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with all departments on site;
  • Ability to take initiative and responsibility as well as be depended on;
  • Ability to organize for the day\'s task and adapt effectively and safely to changes in priorities;
  • Ability to communicate and approach work in a professional and effective manner; and
  • Preference given to members of the Deninu Ku\xc3\xa9, Lutsel K\'e Dene First Nation, North Slave M\xc3\xa9tis Alliance, Northwest Territory M\xc3\xa9tis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation and residents of the NWT.
Beneficial if you have:
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards;
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment; and
  • Possess a Heavy Equipment Operator certificate and have 3-5 years\' experience.
