Job Description

Rice Group is looking for a full time Heavy Equipment Mechanic with experience working on excavators, bulldozers, front end loaders, commercial trucks and other related construction equipment. Rice Group is a fast-growing local aggregate hauling, construction and land development company seeking a person with a positive attitude that demonstrates great organization skills and maintains a safe work area. This position performs all duties and tasks related to the preventative and corrective maintenance (mechanical, electrical & hydraulic) of transport/dump trucks & trailers, heavy equipment and other related construction equipment. The successful candidate must be able to work from blueprints, service manuals and schematic drawings. Must be able to conduct inspections, tests, repair and replace parts in remote locations outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Comfortable using both stick and MIG welding application when preforming various fabrication tasks. This position is performed both in our Mechanic Shop at Rice Groups Queensville Yard and out in the field. Must be able to work well in both independent and team environment. Prepare and submit equipment maintenance records, time sheets, etc. Has the utmost respect for safety procedures including the use of safety clothing, equipment and ensures any concerns are reported to management. Ensures cleanliness and organization of shop, maintains tools and equipment, able to load/unload heavy materials/tools and keeps equipment stored in an organized and neat fashion, etc. Skills Required:

• Excellent safety record and the highest degree of dependability.
• Able to work long days, flexible work hours & weekends
• 3+ years of experience as a Licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic (421A) or Truck & Coach Mechanic (310T).
• A year 2 or above apprentice working towards 421A or 310T licence will also be considered
• 3+ years of experience with repairing and maintaining Heavy Equipment
• Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with clean driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract
• Air Brake Endorsement required
• Must have own tools applicable to position
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role (heavy lifting, bending, climbing, working at heights)
• Background in mechanical knowledge, particularly with various heavy duty engines and extensive knowledge of heavy equipment
• Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
• Strong problem solving skills
• Exhibits strong teamwork, verbal and written skills
• Ability to work safely in a fast pace environment
• Demonstrates superior time management skills
• Must speak fluent English
