Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Calgary Alberta



We are seeking a skilled

Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Journeyperson, On-Road preferred)

Responsibilities:



Running diagnostic tests on heavy trucks, and industrial, and municipal equipment for proper performance, and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Analyzing diagnostic faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair(s) required. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, using hand and power tools. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on all equipment, and attachments /components. Service attachments and working tools on heavy trucks, and industrial, and municipal equipment. Perform repair work on heavy trucks and industrial, and municipal equipment. Attach components and make adjustments on new equipment. Ensure the cleanliness of their work area.

Requirements & Skills:



High school diploma or GED. Certification, and proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic. Familiarity with computer testing technologies /IT and diagnostic skills. Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and industrial equipment. Willingness to work after-hours if required. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license, and clean driving record required. Some travel including overnight, could be necessary, but only occasionally.

Related Physical, & Safety Requirements:



Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment components, parts, and tools weighing up to 50 lbs. Push /pull up to 150 lbs. Comfortable working in confined spaces and climbing heavy equipment for inspection and repairs. Working at heights with Fall Protection on heavy equipment. Strong critical thinking skills for efficient troubleshooting. Tolerance for occasional exposure to environmental elements during work. Electronic Logging Device (ELD) use is required. Commitment to safety protocols, related training, and PPE usage.

Employment Type & Compensation:



Westvac Industrial operates and is open standard Monday-Friday business hours. The position is full-time, and our regular hours of operation are from 8:00 - 4:30 (with 30 minutes for lunch, unpaid).

Compensation is dependent on prior experience and certifications and will be discussed with selected candidates. A Heavy Equipment Mechanic role can range from $31.00 - $40.00 hourly for Apprentices, from $43.00 - $50.00 for On-Road, and $40.00 - $45.00 for Off-Road.

Workstation, Work Environment:



You will be provided with a workstation and personal locker that is your own and not shared with others, in a conventional shop environment. An iPad is provided for work purposes only.
