Position Scope

NACG is seeking an experienced Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off Road) with Service Truck to join our dynamic and industry leading organization.

Full Direct Service Provider flat rate starts at $125

Site: Fort Hills

Schedule: 14x14 (dayshift/nightshift rotation)

Overtime: Provided after 8 hours or 44 in a week

Accommodations: Camp Accommodations

Transportation: Client provided flights from Edmonton or Calgary

The successful candidate will be required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs on CAT/Komatsu/Hitachi equipment of all sizes.
• Work closely with peers in both maintenance and operations.
• Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all equipment.
• Evaluate equipment performance and inspect to detect faults and malfunctions.
• Trouble shooting systems \xe2\x80\x93 example: hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
• Mobilization of equipment for maintenance and repair.
• Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired.
• Order required repair parts, complete reports and fill out work orders.
• Teach and evaluate apprentices and mentor Mechanics.
• Follow NACG codes of practice and Safe Operating Procedures.
• Other maintenance duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience post Journeyman (Journeyperson) certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators.
• Possess excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Exhibit professional work behaviors.
• Committed to continuous learning.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications.
• Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction

Qualifications

• A valid Alberta Journeyman (Journeyperson) Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road).
• Experience with Cat SIS is an asset.
• Previous experience on a Safety Sensitive work site an asset

Truck Requirements:

• Current CVIP and Picker Inspection.
• Oxygen/acetylene cabinets that meet OH&S requirements.
• Full complement of tools for repairing Off Road Equipment.
• $5 million liability insurance

Transferrable Skills/Terms: Owner/Operator, Field Heavy Duty Mechanic, Direct Service Provider, Contract Heavy Duty Mechanic

Summary

All successful candidates must: * Be proficient in English, both verbally and written

• Have a valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
• Have experience as requested as mentioned above
• Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
• Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:

• Breath Alcohol Test
• Urine Drug Test
• Fitness-to-Work Assessment
• Audiometric Testing
• Vision Screening
• Criminal Record Check

Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date: * CSO or BSO Certification

• Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
• Copy of recent Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract
• VOID cheque/direct deposit form
• Silica Awareness
• Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awarness

Once dispatched the following processes will occur: * Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing

• An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out
• After all results are received by NACG candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other site specific details.
