trucks and trailers
, though responsibilities may also extend to other types of heavy equipment and machinery. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our fleet remains safe, reliable, and in peak working condition to support daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment.
Conduct preventive maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, brake adjustments, and tire rotations.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using manual and computerized diagnostic tools.
Repair or replace defective parts such as engines, transmissions, suspension systems, axles, brakes, clutches, and steering components.
Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection reports.
Ensure compliance with company, industry, and government safety standards (e.g., CVOR, DOT, or equivalent regulations).
Respond to breakdowns and perform emergency roadside repairs when required.
Collaborate with dispatch, operations, and other departments to minimize equipment downtime.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop and on job sites.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized heavy equipment/truck mechanic apprenticeship program or trade certification (preferred).
3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment or Truck & Trailer Mechanic.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, air brake systems, and electronic control systems.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and repair instructions.
Ability to use diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools safely and effectively.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Valid driver's license (Class A/Z or equivalent is an asset).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically capable of lifting heavy parts and working in demanding conditions.
Working Conditions
Primarily shop-based, with occasional field/roadside repair work.
May involve overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as operational needs require.
Exposure to noise, grease, oils, and varying weather conditions when working outdoors.
