Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Manager Healthy Communities, the Healthy Built Environment Coordinator (HBEC) will work collaboratively in a team environment with, nutritionists, health promoters, consultants, planners, and other stakeholders to identify strategic areas of action, and accelerate integration of health considerations into land use, transportation and healthy built environment policies. This work will align principles of Public Health and planning to various plans such as smart growth, Transportation Demand Management, natural environments, sustainability, and transit-oriented development.This position will also bring a focus on reducing health inequities related to the build environment. As a member of the Healthy Communities team, the Healthy Built Environment Coordinator will contribute to an understanding of the health impacts of built environments, the opportunities for improvement and collaboration with stakeholders to promote community designs that facilitate healthy communities where people live, work and play.The HBEC will support Public Health Services in adapting, implementing, evaluating and further disseminating the tools and promising practices that have been developed in other jurisdictions.
