Job Overview:

As a Healthcare Access Control Security Officer, you will play an essential role in protecting the safety of patients, staff, and visitors by operating AI-powered weapon detection systems at Valley Regional Hospital. This role requires professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while providing a welcoming environment for all.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor AI-based weapon detection and access control systems at hospital entry points. Engage with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and empathetic manner during screenings. Respond to system alerts, conduct secondary screenings, and escalate incidents as required. Provide clear directions and reassurance to those entering the facility. Maintain accurate incident logs and system performance records. Collaborate with healthcare staff, security teams, and law enforcement. Follow infection control and hospital safety protocols. Contribute to a culture of respect, inclusivity, and safety within the hospital.

Requirements:

Requirements (Must-Haves):

Must reside in Kentville or nearby, NS Must be legally eligible to work in Canada Ability to work 12-hour rotational shifts (days/nights) Valid Security License (Nova Scotia regulations) Standard First Aid & CPR (CSA Approved) certification Physically able to stand for extended periods and respond quickly to incidents

Preferred / Assets:

Experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, or access control Strong conflict de-escalation and customer service skills Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) If not currently held, candidates can complete Paladin's training program prior to onboarding (company-paid, with a 6-month commitment) Comfort with AI-based security systems
