Job Overview:

As a Healthcare Access Control Security Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors by operating AI-powered weapon detection systems at South Shore Regional Hospital. This position requires professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while creating a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor AI-based weapon detection and access control systems at hospital entry points. Engage with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and empathetic manner during screenings. Respond to alerts, conduct secondary screenings, and escalate issues as needed. Provide clear directions and reassurance to individuals entering the facility. Maintain accurate incident logs and system performance records. Collaborate with healthcare staff, internal security, and law enforcement as required. Follow infection control and hospital safety protocols while ensuring smooth entry flow. Contribute to a culture of respect, safety, and inclusivity.

Requirements:

Requirements (Must-Haves):

Reside in Bridgewater, NS Eligible to work in Canada Ability to work 12-hour rotational shifts (days/nights) Valid Security License (Nova Scotia regulations) Standard First Aid & CPR (CSA Approved) certification Physically able to stand for extended periods and respond quickly to incidents

Preferred / Assets:

Prior experience in healthcare security, access control, or law enforcement Strong conflict de-escalation and customer service skills Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) If not currently held, candidates can complete Paladin's training program prior to onboarding (company-paid, with a 6-month commitment) Comfort with AI-based security technology
