Summary The Health and Safety Supervisor will report directly to the Health and Safety Manager and will be an integral member of the Health and Safety team responsible for supervising and mentoring the Health and Safety team. In addition, you will oversee the development, maintenance and improvement of our Health and Safety policies and procedures and ensure that all departments and contractors comply.

Here\xe2\x80\x99s what you can expect in this role:
Supervise and mentor the Health and Safety Team.
Provide strong safety leadership and support for all departments at the Keno Hill Mine.
Development and implementation of the Health and Safety Management System.
Audit the workplace for regulatory compliances and workplace best practices.
Develop and implement critical risk control protocols.
Support all departments in facilitating incident investigations and reporting.
Support all departments in facilitating risk assessments and utilizing risk assessment processes.
Manage activities and relationships with regulators.
Manage Keno Hill emergency preparedness procedures, equipment, and mine rescue program.
Oversee the processes for development and maintenance of Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Oversee the management of the training program for Keno Hill employees and contractors.
Support all departments in effective contractor management.
Create and present health and safety topics during department weekly safety meetings.
Track and report key performance indicators.
Oversee the emergency response and preparedness program.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
10 + years of combined mining experience, of which 3+ years must be in an underground mine.
3 + years supervisory experience.
5 + years experience in a Health & Safety position.
Diploma or Certification in mining related field is an asset.
Knowledge of health and safety management systems and OHS legislation is a requirement.
Proven communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite \xe2\x80\x93 Word, Excel and Power Point.

Ensuring that plant and equipment operate within their safe working limits.
Ensuring that correct equipment is used for the job.
Participating in risk assessment methodology.
Participating in safety initiatives.
Receiving training and instruction as required.

Work Environment and Job Schedule
Employees will be frequently exposed to; outside weather conditions, snow conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is occasionally loud. This position will require you to work a rotating shift of 14 days on and 14 days off and you will be provided camp housing and meals.
