The position will champion the implementation and audits related to the ISO14000 & 14001 standards. Develop and implement safety and environmental programs around those standards and will be responsible for overseeing these programs. The incumbent will work with production to support with job specific training programs to ensure knowledge on equipment across all functional areas of the plant to ensure safety across the production floor. What you can expect as our next Health & Safety / Environmental Specialist: Review the company's health and safety program annuallyLead the implementation of improvements to the existing heath and safety program.Research, develop and implement health and safety policies and proceduresAdvise management and employees on the interpretation of health and safety policies and proceduresTrack and investigate injuries, and develop and implement countermeasures to prevent further injuries. Communicate injuries and countermeasures to raise awarenessDevelop and implement company-wide visual health and safety key performance indicatorsResponsible for leading the companys Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and oversee completion of all identified issuesAccountable to ensure monthly workplace Inspections are completed for all facilities and reviewing results for any further actions requiredFacilitate equipment risk assessments and weekly Health & Safety reviews with cross-functional teamMaintain company emergency plans and conduct random practice evacuations.Conduct ergonomic workplace assessments in order to review and assess work processes to prevent injuriesServe as the organization's representative to the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of the Environment, Public Health and the Workplace Safety and Insurance BoardEnsure all MSDS are active, organized and up-to-date within the company ERP systemSpearhead the implementation of ISO4000 $ 40001 standardsLead the Environmental Management SystemEnsure compliance with customer, government and ISO 14001 requirements.Organize internal and external environmental audits and implement corrective actions. Coordinating with the audits and inspection material to ensure conformity with the planMaintain confidentiality at all times and protect employee privacyCoordinate and verify the work progress as per the relevant specifications and company's environmental systemsAssist in designing, preparing, implementing and maintaining the environmental management systemReduce the impact on local environment by pollution control, implementing plans for controlling wastes, removal of hazardous substances, management of water in accordance to the legislated requirementsOverview and coordinate environmental operations in order to ensure permit renewals and regulatory complianceInspect the site for environmental compliances. Determine the root cause of environment issues and plan for appropriate actions to overcome themMaintain clear and complete documentations for reference purpose of the environmental management systemLiaise with the management to upgrade activities and schedule periodic maintenanceWork with cross-functional groups to maintain monitoring programs and environmental management. Determine areas of improvement to lessen environmental wastes and impactsDevelop contamination control programs to reduce hazards and accidentsAny other duties are performed under the guidance and direction of the Supervisor/Manager Are you our next Health & Safety / Environmental Specialist? 5 7 years of Health & Safety focused experiencePost-graduate Diploma or Degree in HR/related field or equivalent experienceMust have a sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety ActExperienced in the ISO 14000 & 14001 standards and must be familiar with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations, standards and guidelines.Occupational Health and Safety specialization program preferredJHSC certification preferredFirst Aid/CPR Certification preferredCRSP designation preferred Perks?!
