The Environment Health Safety Senior Specialist, Canada will provide technical expertise on safety, environmental, ergonomics, and occupational health program components. This position will lead the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of robust processes to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and control EHS risk in the office, deliver, and remote workplaces. The EHS Senior Specialist will drive action plan completion, provide technical support to ensure regulatory compliance and New Consumer Health Company corporate standards compliance, and ensure New Consumer Health Company goals are delivered. The Senior Specialist will support EHS audits and inspections, recommendations, and process improvements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Providing EHS support to Ontario, Canada facilities, other assigned offices, deliver facilities, remote workers, dangerous goods transportation, and fleet drivers within the region

Developing and implementing operational procedures to ensure identification, assessment, and control of EHS risks and compliance with regulatory and New Consumer Health Company standards including emergency response and permit-to-work processes

Maintaining the site hazard communication program including SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and chemical database inventories and the required training programs

Leading and facilitating the Joint Health and Safety Committees and Sustainability Teams and providing coaching and guidance to team members

Completing annual waste audits and submitting the results to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment

Leading and facilitating site emergency response teams to ensure that sites are following WSIB requirements

Performing ergonomic workstation assessments and providing recommendations for improvement

Compiling and reporting monthly, quarterly, and annual EHS metrics

Preparing and submitting compliance reports to local, state, and national agencies

Developing, implementing, and delivering EHS training, ensuring key risk and regulatory requirements are addressed for appropriate audiences, including new hires

Maintaining a training matrix of company and regulatory requirements, tracking, reporting, and developing applicable educational and awareness campaigns

Coordinating the execution of inspections, Gembas, and/or walks for specific or general programs, with multidisciplinary teams to identify the level of compliance and find opportunities for improvement

Investigating, recording, and reporting incidents that occurred on the premises and following up on the implementation and effectiveness of CAPAs (corrective and preventive actions) to prevent future recurrence

Implementing strategies and tactics to improve the culture of safety, health, and environmental care in offices while applying New Consumer Health Company methodologies

Preparing audit reports/corrective action plans and collaborating with key stakeholders to implement corrective measures

Developing EHS objectives for the assigned programs, including auditing, analyzing, documenting, and reporting on their implementation and effectiveness to management via dashboards and reports

Supporting and facilitating the site EHS committees/teams to ensure the implementation of the EHS program

Maintaining the EHS Compliance Calendar of all departmental, regulatory, and New Consumer Health Company standard events and deadlines

Supporting the implementation of new EHS standards and initiatives

Implementing compliance with the change management process to facilities, equipment, processes, activities, or planned tasks to identify, establish, and verify controls to prevent impacts to the safety and environment
Qualifications

Position Requirements:

University/Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, management, or safety sciences

Minimum 4-6 years of EHS experience with proven successful performance

Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian EHS regulations (WSIB, WHMIS, and Ministry of Environment)

Knowledge of EHS regulations, ISO certifications, EHS Management Systems, and current trends in EHS Culture

Ability to influence people to complete the reliable execution of safety systems, detect weak signals, question assumptions, and intervene when necessary

Demonstrated ability in managing metrics, trend analysis, and reporting

Demonstrated project management skills

Organizational skills

Ability to generate all required reports and record-keeping systems

Experience in identifying, evaluating, and controlling EHS risks in the workplace

Ability to quickly interpret complex regulatory issues and provide a recommended course of action

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

Strong team player and positive attitude towards people

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to confidently present complex information in an easily understood manner

Travel: approximately 25%

Preferred Requirements:

A focused degree in EHS or another related discipline

Experience leading EHS programs in a consumer environment or other highly regulated industry

Certifications in EHS (e.g., CRSP, CSP, PE, CIH)

Six Sigma, FPX certification

Experience in leading employee campaigns and initiatives

Technically and digitally savvy with analytical skills

Experience with regional policy, procedure, program authoring, development, deployment, and implementation

Ability to interface with local, state, and federal inspectors and associates
