About the Role
Talisker Resources Ltd. is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to provide cross-shift support to our Health & Safety Manager at the Bralorne Gold Mine. This role is critical to maintaining a safe work environment across underground mining operations, diamond drilling, exploration activities, construction, and contractor management.
The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of experience in mining health and safety, with a strong focus on underground environments, mine rescue, and regulatory compliance. Exceptional candidates with less than 10 years of experience will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong capability and proven results.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Oversight
Support the Health & Safety Manager in implementing, monitoring, and enforcing site safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits for underground mining, diamond drilling, exploration, and construction activities.
Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, providing recommendations and follow-up actions.
Ensure compliance with company policies, provincial and federal safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Contractor & Workforce Management
Oversee contractor health and safety compliance on-site, ensuring proper orientation, training, and documentation.
Monitor and support safe work practices for all employees, including new hires, contractors, and temporary staff.
Provide safety training and mentorship to personnel across shifts.
Support the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) in fulfilling its functions and responsibilities.
Operational Support
Provide cross-shift support to ensure continuous safety oversight across all mine operations.
Participate in pre-job hazard assessments, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes.
Support project planning with construction, drilling, and exploration teams to integrate safety into operational activities.
Draft, review, and edit safe work procedures specific to site activities and regulatory requirements.
Emergency Response & Mine Rescue
Lead, enhance, and maintain the site's underground mine rescue and emergency response program.
Ensure mine rescue equipment is inspected, maintained, and operational at all times.
Provide monthly mine rescue training to the team in line with regulatory and site requirements.
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and corrective actions.
Prepare reports for management, regulators, and stakeholders as required.
Ensure all health and safety documentation is organized and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of health and safety experience in underground mining operations, diamond drilling, exploration, and/or construction. Exceptional candidates with less than 10 years will also be considered.
Strong knowledge of mining legislation, regulations, and best practices in British Columbia and Canada.
Mine rescue experience is mandatory, including program development, equipment maintenance, and delivery of regular training.
Experience supporting a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC).
Experience drafting, reviewing, and editing safe work procedures in compliance with site and regulatory requirements.
Experience managing contractors and ensuring compliance across multiple disciplines.
Ability to work in a remote mine site environment, including shift work and cross-shift coverage.
Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent) is preferred.
First Aid and CPR certification required.
Must be comfortable working in a remote camp setting for extended periods.
