The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting a culture of prevention, compliance, and continuous improvement within the company. This role plays a key part in implementing and monitoring health and safety programs, as well as raising awareness among employees and managers. The coordinator works closely with internal teams, health and safety committees, and regulatory authorities to ensure a healthy, safe, and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities




Develop, implement, and improve health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with CNESST and internal standards. Monitor regulatory changes and adjust company practices to meet new legal and normative requirements. Identify job-related risks and recommend preventive and corrective measures to eliminate the risks of accidents, incidents, and occupational illnesses. Conduct monthly inspections and targeted audits in production and office areas to ensure compliance with safety rules. Actively participate in the Health & Safety and Machine Safety Committees: prepare agendas, write minutes, and follow up on recommendations. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, analyze root causes, and propose sustainable corrective actions. Collaborate with HR to manage return-to-work processes following workplace injuries. Organize and track health and safety training (WHMIS, working at heights, lockout-tagout, forklift operation, etc.). Regularly update and test emergency plans (fire, evacuation, etc.). Work with managers and the health & safety committee to identify PPE needs, ensure compliance, and raise awareness on proper use. Produce and analyze H&S performance indicators and report results to management. Create and share awareness and communication materials (posters, newsletters, bulletins, prevention campaigns). Contribute to harmonizing H&S practices across company sites. Research and recommend innovative solutions (technologies, software, smart PPE) to improve health and safety prevention.

Requirements




College or university degree in Industrial Hygiene, Human Resources, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment. Experience in machine safety and/or ergonomic assessment is an asset. In-depth knowledge of Quebec's health and safety regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Act, CNESST). Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work on the floor with rigor, diplomacy, and leadership. Bilingualism (French/English) is required, both oral and written. The selected candidate will also oversee health & safety for our Edmonton site. Ability to travel between the company's different sites.
