P&H Milling P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.

From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Hamilton, Acton, Hanover, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.

Your Role Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance, the Health and Safety Business Partner, Learning & Engagement, provides positive and enthusiastic training and communications to managers, supervisors and employees to facilitate growth and development in H&S knowledge, buy-in and culture.

Day to Day
  • Develop and deliver EHS program training and safety communications that create \xe2\x80\x98safety engagement\xe2\x80\x99 amongst employees and site leadership teams.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in health & safety standards, policies, and practices for PHMG.
  • Analyze safety data and trends, new legislation and standards to assist in developing \xe2\x80\x98best in class\xe2\x80\x99 training and communication plans.
  • Conduct annual training needs analysis to ensure training calendar and eCompliance job profiles are maintained.
  • Review and approve of 3rd party training providers as required to supplement internal training delivery.
  • Ensure quality and consistency in the communication of PHMG health and safety programs.
  • Contribute to the promotion of a healthy & safe culture through the development of psychological health and safety strategies that create buy-in and commitment to the H&S Program.
  • Conduct new hire orientation for supervisors, managers and new H&S Administrators as it relates to H&S program responsibilities and software applications.
  • Maintain the H&S SharePoint site and digital board communications.
  • Develop and maintain physical demands analysis and conduct ergonomic assessments as required to support return to work and minimize musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Take ownership of H&S projects/initiatives as assigned by the Director HSE and work with stakeholders to support implementation and sustainment efforts.
  • Collaborate with the H&S business Partner, Management Systems & Auditing, and the Operations Managers, to ensure clarity and consistency in the implementation of PHMG safety program and compliance.
Required Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (CRSP an asset).
  • Post-secondary education in adult learning principles, communications or public relations.
  • 3-5 years of Health and Safety work experience and knowledge of Federal OHS Legislation.
  • Ability to engage and promote continuous learning using traditional and modern training methods and adult learning techniques.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of key health and safety topics including ergonomics and mental health.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build relationships, credibility, and to be able to influence others to embrace change.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in food manufacturing an asset.
