: The HS/EHS Manager will lead the Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives at our propane tank refurbishment facilities in Scoudouc New Brunswick and Lethbridge Alberta. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and implementing environmental sustainability programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing environments, possess excellent leadership skills, and be adept at developing and executing comprehensive HS/EHS strategies. This position will report to the Director of Safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety Management:
Develop, implement, and manage health and safety policies and procedures to comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
Working with WorkSafe NB and WCB Alberta.
Organize and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels.
Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, KPI's and trends.
Write, review and implement HSP's in alliance with our corporate program (McWane).
Write JSA's for all positions within the organization.
Environmental Compliance:
Ensure the facility complies with environmental regulations, including waste management, air quality, water discharge, and hazardous materials handling.
Develop and implement environmental management systems (EMS) and sustainability initiatives.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage permits, reporting, and audits.
Monitor environmental performance and develop strategies for improvement.
Leadership and Culture:
Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the facility.
Serve as a key advisor to the leadership team on HS/EHS matters.
Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives in health, safety, and environmental practices.
Mentor and develop the HS/EHS team and safety committee.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all HS/EHS policies, procedures, and training records.
Prepare and submit required regulatory reports in a timely manner.
Communicate HS/EHS performance and improvements to internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety is preferred.•
•2+ years of experience in an HS/EHS role within a manufacturing environment, with at least 1 year in managerial capacity.•
•Knowledge of Canadian HS/EHS laws and regulations and OSHA in the USA.•
•Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.•
•Proven track record in developing and implementing successful safety and environmental programs.•
•Certification in health and safety (e.g., CRSP, CSP) or environmental management is preferred.•
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HS/EHS management software (Cority/Jira).•
•Proficiency in English is required; French would be considered an asset.•
Working Conditions:
-This role involves working in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
-The position may require occasional travel to other facilities or regulatory bodies. Current Passport with no travel restrictions -Must be able to work flexible hours as needed to support plant operations
