As a student at PCL, you will get the opportunity for challenging work assignments in a supportive work environment which promotes personal and professional growth.We are seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Student for our Calgary District, within our Canadian Buildings Division that is available for 4 months starting in May 2025.As a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Student and depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:ResponsibilitiesAssisting the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigationsManaging documents (ie. data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.)Assisting with the orientation of new employeesDeveloping of training materialsReviewing paperwork (ie. PSI, tailgate meetings, safework procedure, trend analysis)Monitoring and maintaining the environmental programRecognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirementsAnalyzing site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to districtGathering/reviewing/distributing safety-related statistical informationInterpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to workforceQualificationsAbility to implement HSE program elements and safe operating proceduresKnowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet complianceAbility to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazardsThe ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrenceExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong willingness to learnNext Step:Please note that candidates who have been selected to move forward to the next stage of the recruitment process will receive an email to complete a short online video interviewPCL is an innovative, employee-owned company comprised of people who find passion in their profession and take pride in doing great work every day.
