Position Overview
MACC is seeking a Health Policy Research Analyst to contribute to our advocacy and
research efforts, particularly in addressing Islamophobia and systemic inequities within the
Canadian healthcare system. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in
health policy, public health, or social sciences, and a passion for social justice and equity.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Analysis:
-Conduct in-depth research and analysis on healthcare policies, programs, and practices
impacting Muslim and marginalized communities.
Analyze healthcare-related legislation, regulatory frameworks, and equity-focused initiatives
at federal, provincial, and municipal levels.
Support MACC's Islamophobia in Healthcare portfolio by identifying gaps in policy and
practice, providing evidence-based recommendations.
Policy Development:
Draft policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy documents to advance systemic change
in healthcare.
Develop and refine recommendations for equitable healthcare policies, addressing
Islamophobia, cultural competency, and discrimination.
Collaborate with stakeholders to influence healthcare institutions and policymakers.
Program Support:
-Assist in the development of training and educational materials for healthcare providers to
promote cultural safety and anti-Islamophobia practices.
Support MACC's initiatives, such as community consultations and workshops, by providing
data-driven insights and recommendations.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with healthcare organizations, policymakers, community groups, and academic
institutions.
Represent MACC in meetings, presentations, and conferences, communicating findings and
advocating for equity in healthcare.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to foster partnerships and enhance
MACC's influence in healthcare policy.
Data Collection and Reporting:
Design and implement surveys, focus groups, or interviews to gather data on healthcare
experiences and systemic barriers.
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform MACC's health policy recommendations.
Prepare reports and presentations summarizing research findings and policy implications.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
-Bachelor's or Master's degree in public health, health policy, social sciences, or a related
field.
2+ years of experience in health policy analysis, research, or advocacy (preferred).
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong understanding of Canadian healthcare systems, equity issues, and anti-racism
frameworks.
Exceptional research, analytical, and writing skills.
Experience with data collection and analysis (qualitative and quantitative).
Knowledge of Islamophobia and systemic discrimination, particularly in healthcare, is an
asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo, or similar tools).
