Overview



The Health Outreach Worker supports the reduction of family violence and the improvement of Indigenous health through culturally appropriate services. Focus is on prevention, aftercare, and supporting those most at risk, especially women and children. Services may include healing circles, peer counselling, workshops, cultural activities, and fitness/recreation programs. Qualification & Requirements A 2-year College Diploma in Social Service Work, Mental Health & Addictions, or a related field. Previous experience in a similar role is an asset. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and local communities. Experience in a not-for-profit setting is an asset. Must have or be able to obtain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (CPIC). Must hold a valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract. Primary Responsibilities 1.Provide client-based services: peer counselling, advocacy, crisis intervention, referrals, safety planning. 2.Maintain a minimum caseload of 15 clients annually and deliver at least 24 participant-based activities each year (workshops, presentations, cultural, fitness/recreation). 3.Organize health promotion and illness prevention initiatives. 4.Plan and facilitate healing circles, workshops, traditional/cultural activities, and community events. 5.Foster awareness of Indigenous family violence and promote healing. 6.Maintain accurate records and complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. 7.Build and sustain positive relationships within FENFC and with community partners. 8.Ensure compliance with funder requirements, privacy legislation, and organizational policies.
