Manitoba\'s Northern Health Region (NHR) is currently recruiting for a Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) in The Pas. The HIMP is an essential member of the healthcare team and is responsible for the overall management of health records, contributing to client care, outcomes, and safety through the provision of accurate, complete, timely, and accessible health records. The HIMP supports clients by advocating for and monitoring the privacy, security, and confidentiality of personal health information.

In accordance with the CUPE Critical Staffing Incentive for Health Information Management Professionals (Acute Care) Letter of Understanding, effective February 13, 2023, Health Information Management Professionals in an Acute Care setting shall be paid an additional $6.00/hr. for all hours paid. The Critical staffing incentive shall be paid on a quarterly basis to those individuals actively employed as a Health Information Management Professional in an Acute Care setting at the end of each quarter.

If this has intrigued you, here are some of the qualifications we\'re looking for in candidates:
  • Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program
  • Current and maintained certification with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent English language proficiency, both written and verbal
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
These attributes will make you stand out:
  • Completion of an accredited coding specialist course
  • Previous coding and abstracting experience in a Health Information Services department
