OverviewThe Payment Services team within the Health Care Operations department of WorkSafeBC is looking for a highly motivated Health Care Payment Officers to join our team to help us strive towards our vision.In this role, youll be calculating payments, therefore, sound math skills will be an asset to assist you with adjudicating and processing accounts for medical treatment expenses. Your exemplary communication skills and diplomacy are essential to ensure courteous, empathetic service when providing information and recommendations to injured workers and other connections.This is a temporary 18-month opportunity.How youll make a difference: Youll help protect the financial integrity of B.C.s workers compensation system, ensuring we serve British Columbians now and in the future.Where youll workAt WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.What you'll do

  • Entitle and process health care benefits and travel arrangements for injured workers
  • Process invoices and answer inquiries from health care providers, vendors, and workers
  • Communicate with claimants, internal staff, physicians, hospitals, etc., to obtain or clarify payment information
  • Authorize and process health care expenditures on a variety of payment systems

Your background and experience
  • A minimum of grade 12 education (some post-secondary education is preferred)
  • Recent work experience in an administrative or general office/business environment
  • Experience working in a call center is an asset
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Extra 4% of your salary in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation from the day you start
Once youve worked a certain number of hours (approximately 12 months), youll switch to getting:
