Wages: Wage: $20.17-$25.28/hr,


additional $2/hr to wage will be applied, as per Gov. of AB-HCA funding initiative

In support of the Mission, Vision and Values of The Good Samaritan Society and Good Samaritan Canada ("Good Samaritan" or "GS"), the Multi-Skilled Worker (MSW) works collaboratively with members of a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of a range of care and services supporting resident care needs and activities of daily living including personal care, recreation, medication administration, food services, housekeeping and laundry. The MSW performs their work in a manner to provide a positive and safe daily living experience for each resident, work performed in accordance with the resident's care plan, standards, regulations and Good Samaritan's "Being and Belonging" model of care.

It ensures that every resident, client, volunteer, and staff member experiences a home-like environment where they are known and valued. The MSW approaches residents with respect for a resident's choice, dignity, privacy, independence, spirituality and individuality within a home environment. The MSW works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and is accountable to the Clinical Services Lead.

Requirements



Education and Other Qualifications:

Health Care Aide Certificate or equivalent. + Under specified circumstances, the Health Care Aide Certificate must be completed within 18 months of hire.
ALBERTA: + Registered with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory with active status.
+ Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum, and are either in their 1st year of a practical nursing program or 2nd year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered.
+ Food Safety Basic or equivalent.

Work Experience:



Experience working with older adults and persons with disabilities, both physical and cognitive. Experience in dementia care. Experience in palliative care.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



Ability to work as a member of a team and to request guidance and consultation. Willing to accept direction, guidance and constructive feedback. Proficient interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively deal with challenging circumstances in a diplomatic and professional manner. Ability to communicate in and understand English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with residents of varying socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, and belief backgrounds, and can recognize and respond effectively to verbal and non-verbal cues. Exhibits an open and sincere approach to other persons, demonstrating respect and compassion, and maintaining the dignity and self-worth of those persons they come into contact with. Exhibits cultural sensitivity, respecting and adapting to diverse background and beliefs of other persons. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying workload and an environment which regularly undergoes change (both planned and unplanned) to accommodate resident needs and/or organizational circumstances. Self-directed and able to exercise independent judgment within the scope of the job classification. Competent in computer use for the performance of key activities and accountabilities where required.

Requirements:



A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date. A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
