Position: Support Workers / Personal Care Aides

Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, direct support and care to patients in Long Term Care Homes Assist clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, and dressing), eating, and mobility. Help ensure proper nutrition and assist with feeding when necessary. Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients. Provide emotional support, companionship, and engage clients in activities to promote cognitive function and overall well-being. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement personalized care plans. Document care provided and report concerns or changes to the supervising nurse.

Qualifications

Documented completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check. Candidates must meet tuberculosis screening requirements per legislative guidelines. Preferred experience in healthcare, caregiving, or personal care roles. Knowledge of medical terminology, basic patient care procedures, and medication administration is a plus. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Skills

Medical terminology and basic health monitoring. Case management and familiarity with healthcare software. Experience with home care, hospital care, hospice care, or dementia care. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Compassionate demeanor and dedication to promoting dignity and independence for clients.
