Job Description

In this role you will:

Be the authority on all health and safety matters and oversee team members to ensure compliance.

Ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of the Company's Health and Safety Program.

Manage the Company's COR program and audit, ensuring ongoing compliance.

Stay up to date on industry's best practices and legislative changes.

Draft and revise safety manual sections, standard operating procedures, and safe work practices

Track and maintain employee training records and certificates.

Develop H&S content for Toolbox/Safety Talks and other company meetings.

Ensure daily completion of field level risk assessments, pre-use equipment inspection and safety toolbox talk forms for all active sites.

Assess PPE and safety equipment needs, availability and proper usage during site visits (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, PPE etc.)

Conduct weekly site audits. Ensure crews are using proper signage, PPE and have all proper documentation. Verify Fall Arrest Rescue procedure is understood and implemented on every job site.

Host Joint Health and Safety meetings and publish meeting minutes.

Manage new job site hazard assessment and development of Site-Specific Safety Plan. Delivering site specific safety orientation as required. Ensure these are followed from start to completion of the job by all employees and subtrades.

Oversee subtrade H&S compliance documentation and safety performance. Identify compliance issues and institute corrective action as required.

Complete additional workplace specific hazard training as identified by the JHSC.

The ideal candidate will have:

Direct experience in a health and safety role in the construction industry Knowledge in the Health and Safety Act and Regulations and WSIB Act Must have experience with the COR program and audits.
Must have excellent written, and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated effective teaching and presenting skills to both small and large groups.

Strong computer skills and ability to manage electronic documentation.

Must have valid G class driver's license and vehicle.

Must have Working at Heights certification.

JHSC Certification, First Aid, and CPR would be assets.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
