General Purpose:

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety program that foster a proactive safety culture across HCC. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, leads incident investigations, and supports continuous improvement through strategic safety initiatives. By mentoring safety personnel and collaborating with site teams, the Safety Manager promotes safe work practices in complex underground mining and construction environments, contributing to the overall health, safety, and operational excellence of the organization.

SAFETY PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING SUPPORT



Develops and maintains progressive safety policies, programs, procedures, and best practices. Oversee the corporate safety strategy and promote a strong safety culture across all sites. Communicates safety matters to senior management to support client engagement and continuous improvement. Mentors and coaches junior safety and training personnel. Oversees the development, revision, and facilitation of safety training programs and modules. Supports the Training Manager in delivering safety training and developing training materials.

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT AND COMPLIANCE



Leads investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and hazards to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Participates in the WCB process as an employer representative when required.

SITE SAFETY LEADERSHIP



Site visits to HCC Client site locations Provides support for site safety personnel involved in: Operation of scoop trams, continuous miners, bolting machines, telehandlers, skid steers, and other equipment. Installation of conveyance systems and underground infrastructure. Construction of underground storage bins and structural projects. Shotcreting, backfilling, concrete foundation installation. Shaft construction and remediation.

Qualifications:



A minimum of 5-7 years working in underground mining, potash mining would be an asset This role will be based out of our Saskatoon office and work Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with support visits to site as required. Previous mining and/or safety supervision and management experience Strong knowledge of Windows and the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project). SharePoint experience would be an asset Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Current certification in Saskatchewan General Mine Safety Awareness and WHMIS 2015; train-the-trainer certification in both is strongly preferred but not required Current certification in Leadership for Safety Excellence and First Aid/CPR Current certification as a NCSO and/or CRSP is an asset. A commitment to working safely and providing effective leadership in a team environment Positive attitude and excellent work ethic A valid Class 5 driver's license or above for site travel needs
