Canadian International Student Services (CISS) is seeking an experienced, highly organized Head Teacher to lead and oversee ESL programming at our international summer camps in downtown Toronto. This role provides academic leadership across multiple ESL courses and levels.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership & Programme Oversight:
Providing academic oversight for all ESL programmes delivered at the camp.
Ensuring consistent delivery of CISS ESL curriculum frameworks across all classes.
Monitoring lesson quality, student engagement, and assessment standards.
Acting as the primary academic point of contact for ESL-related questions and issues.
ESL Testing & Placement
Administering, and overseeing ESL placement testing prior to and at the start of the programme.
Grouping students by level and making placement adjustments as needed.
Supporting teachers with level-specific expectations and outcomes.
Teacher Training & Support
Preparing and delivering pre-camp teacher training sessions focused on ESL methodology, curriculum expectations, classroom management, and camp procedures.
Providing ongoing pedagogical support, mentoring, and feedback to teachers.
Observing lessons and supporting professional development throughout the programme.
Coordination & Communication
Coordinating teaching schedules, classroom usage, and academic logistics.
Leading teachers' meetings.
Collaborating closely with camp management and programme coordinators.
Assisting with substitute coverage and academic contingency planning when needed.
Administration
Ensuring accurate attendance records and timely completion of student evaluations and reports.
Supporting academic documentation and end-of-programme wrap-up.
Location
Downtown Toronto, across two neighbouring campuses:
University of Toronto -Trinity College Campus and St. Hilda's Campus
Qualifications
Bachelor of Education and/or TESL certification recognized by TESL Canada (e.g., CELTA).
Extensive experience teaching ESL in a communicative, student-centred environment.
Prior leadership experience (Head Teacher, Academic Coordinator, or Senior Teacher) strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of ESL level frameworks, placement testing, and curriculum design.
Excellent organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple programmes, teachers, and locations simultaneously.
Police Reference Check required.

Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 08:30-15:30
Lunch Break: 1 hour (paid)
Pay: $800 per week
