POSITION SUMMARY

As a Sports & Adventure Head Instructor, you will be responsible for providing the lead instruction as well as overseeing other instructors and ensuring a safe, productive and enjoyable experience for all campers. Applicant should be a post-secondary student or have equivalent experience in a related discipline.

Develop, plan and supervise respective summer camp program
Deliver engaging full day sports programs
Create activities that are welcoming to join/observe aspects of camp (for shy or timid campers)
Instruct and lead specialized activities with campers and instructors
Design schedules for activities that allow for the highest quality experience
Follow and ensure camp procedures and policies are always adhered including Appleby's Mutual Respect Policy
Provide leadership to Instructors, as well as maintains a positive working relationship with all other staff members
Ensure the safety and supervision of all campers, staff, and visitors
Planning and execution of activities/shows during lunch periods
Provide progress reports, suggestions for improvement, and voices concerns to the Director, Camp Programs
Maintain high levels of professionalism and public relations, demonstrating a courteous attitude toward participants, parents, staff, visitors, and parents
Adhered to Appleby College's policies and practices for all facilities, equipment, and programs
Ensure safe drop-off and pick-up for all respective program campers, maintaining presence at these points; circulating, helping, and answering questions
YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU

Have completed min. 2nd year university/college and have thorough knowledge & previous experience instructing Sport and/or Adventure programs.
Provide top-level instruction and support campers in analyzing, evaluating and structuring drills
Acquired appropriate balance of "fun"damentals vs education/skill development
Proven excellence in instructional abilities in specific program area
Have related work experience in teaching in various sports in camp or educational environments.
Possess team leading abilities (Completion of a leadership program is an asset)
Are exceptional in verbal and written communication skills
Possess exquisite time management and organizational skill
Experience in coaching, teaching specific sports, instruction in physical education preferred
Can demonstrate effective problem-solving skills
Are able to adapt to changing needs and circumstances
Have valid Standard First Aid and CPR - C
Possession of a Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification in lifeguarding would be considered an asset
