The Opportunity

In this role you will be working closely with our aquatic team. You'll lead our swim instruction program and ensure the delivery of high-quality, effective swim lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels. This is a crucial role in creating a positive and supportive learning environment, quality control, training instructors, and fostering a passion for swimming among our students and instructors.

Responsibilities

Program Management and Administration



Enforce water safety rules and emergency procedures during lessons, maintaining constant vigilance over participants Demonstrate proper swim techniques and skills, fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment Assist in delivering engaging and effective swim lessons, offering personalized feedback and guidance to participants Supervise student evaluations and ensure accurate completion of skill trees and progress reports Maintain accurate records of attendance, class progress, and instructor schedules Maintain clear and open communication with participants, parents/guardians, and staff regarding class schedules, progress updates, and any pertinent information Address participant concerns and inquiries in a timely and professional manner

Staff Leadership



Ensure that instructors adhere to the Splash N' Learn swim curriculum and teaching philosophy Guide and mentor instructors in the water, assisting various classes during shifts Lead and provide mentorship to a team of swim instructors, offering guidance, training, and ongoing support Assist the supervisor with any required shift-related tasks Ensure that all instructors are adequately prepared for their shifts Conduct comprehensive training programs for new and existing swim instructors, focusing on teaching techniques, safety protocols, and customer service Assist with evaluating instructor performance, offering constructive feedback and implementing improvement plans as necessary Recognize and reward outstanding instructor performance to encourage professional growth

Qualifications

Previous experience in swim instruction Current LSS Swim or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certifications Current Standard First Aid certification Current National Lifeguard or Assistant Lifeguard award Current Splash N' Learn Instructor certification Must attend and successfully complete related mandatory and sessional training sessions Acceptable police check for vulnerable sector

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
