We promote a positive work-place culture focused on growth, teamwork and inclusivity.The Position:Reporting to the Camp Manager, the Head Housekeeper leads and directs the Housekeeping and Janitorial staff in assigning tasks to provide clean and safe living accommodations for our guests. The ideal candidate for this position must be fully capable and willing of complying with all policies, procedures and service standards as well as follow and proactively promote all health and safety policies and initiatives and be willing to fill in for any position within the Housekeeping Department should the need rise. The Head Housekeeper is a Full-Time position.Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Ensure that Housekeeping staff follows established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
  • Oversee regularly scheduled Safety, Toolbox, PASS and department organizational meetings, and provide valuable input to the Det\xe2\x80\x99on Cho Bouwa Whee Catering LP. Housekeeping team, to ensure the smooth operation of the Housekeeping Department.
  • Properly maintain all Housekeeping areas, and oversee the maintenance, care and use of supplies and equipment.
  • Perform regular inspections of resident areas and rooms to ensure sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Coordinate repair needs with the Camp Administration Clerk.
  • Effectively direct the Housekeeping team, within budgetary parameters, and on schedule.
  • Manage the training, motivation, performance appraisals, scheduling, and progressive discipline (if necessary), of all Housekeeping team members, in consultation with Human Resources.
  • Create and develop policies and procedures to ensure an efficient working environment.
  • Evaluate safe work practices in job performance reviews.
  • Communicate with other unit supervisors, to ensure sufficient planning for Housekeeping services and activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor resident moves and respond to resident requests promptly and according to policy.
  • Stay current with new operating methods and incorporate them into existing Housekeeping practices as necessary.
  • Attend all required meetings, providing input and recommendations as needed.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities for personal growth and development.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining effective communication between all departments and our guests, in order to provide the best service possible.
  • Must be fully capable and willing to fill in for any position within the Housekeeping department, should the need arise.
  • Be ready willing and able to fulfill all reasonable related duties requested of the Camp Manager and our client.
  • Develop an effective quality control inspection program which will ensure that the Housekeeping, Janitorial and Commissary employees provide the best in service.
  • Maintain supervisory confidentiality and prohibit workplace gossip.
  • Prepare daily progress report, which must clearly cover all incidents, concerns, and communicate any changes in staff allocation or duties.
  • Prepare orders for cleaning and housekeeping supplies based on departmental needs, keeping in mind budgetary parameters and supply costs.
  • Prepare crossover report for cross shift so that a consistent supervision of staff is maintained, and there is no change in service for our guests due to a lack of communication.
  • Complete a timely and accurate inventory of all housekeeping consumables on a monthly basis.
  • Set up and maintain a log of all housekeeping equipment, which will be used to record all regularly scheduled maintenance and repairs to equipment, and ensure equipment is kept in the best operating condition.
  • Perform weekly audits, according to the procedures set by Det\xe2\x80\x99on Cho Bouwa Whee Catering LP.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of one year supervisory experience in the housekeeping or related industry
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
  • Strong communication and customer relations abilities
  • Current WHMIS certification
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Have attention to detail, strong organization skills and can prioritize well
  • Ideally has the ability to lead and motivate staff
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Concept of working as a team player and having the ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work 12 hour days and perform under pressure in a fast paced, team-based environment
