Head, Finance - Crop Science Canada

The Canada Crop Science Finance Head is the single point of contact for the Country Division Head and the Canada Crop Science leadership team for all financial topics. The Finance Head directs a team of Finance Business Partners that support the Crop Science division in all analytical planning, forecasting, reporting, strategic and performance management aspects. The lead is a member of the North America (NA) Crop Science Finance Leadership Team (LT) and ensures all strategic direction and process details are carried out in Canada as appropriate.

What you will do:

• Provide direction and decision support to Canada Crop Science leadership through financial steering and planning, setting and tracking the achievement, business analysis and performance management of all relevant targets
• Identify, pursue, manage business risks and opportunities, and support measures to reduce, mitigate or hedge
• Member of the Canada Crop Science LT, the NA Crop Science Finance LT, and the Canada CFO LT and can balance the needs and demands of all three teams
• Lead and develop a team of finance business partners as they also support the Canada Crop Science business
• Credit oversight including approval of credit lines exceeding monetary thresholds and support working capital forecast accuracy. Role also manages a small team of credit professionals.
• Oversee the management of the Calgary site
• Member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, Compliance and Risk Management Committee, the Pension Investment Committee, and be the key contact for Internal Audit
• Instill a spirit of innovation and digital transformation that reduces complexity, increases transparency & speed of information for better and faster decisions

Who you are:

• Completed undergraduate degree
• MBA; or a professional accounting designation is preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of supervisory or management experience with increasing responsibility in finance and functional management position
• An in-depth understanding of the complexities of finance and business transactions of a global operating business
• Advanced skills to analyze business and financial trends to make sound business decisions and anticipate future market developments
• Strong management, leadership, organizational and communication skills are necessary to effectively interact and influence all levels of management. Ability to develop and motivate talent.
• Strong networking capabilities to maneuver within the matrix organization between functions and the division
• Knowledge of the economic and business environment in Canada
• Analytical skills, proactive mindset and self-motivated
• Preference for experience working in the agricultural industry
