Reporting to the Director of Sport, Community Engagement & Athlete Development, the Men's Hockey Head Coach is responsible for all duties normally associated with the successful delivery and co-ordination of an inter-university hockey program, including, but not restricted to:Develop & lead a robust recruiting strategy Recruit and lead high performing assistant coaches Work collaboratively with Athlete Health & Performance team (Athletic Therapy, Strength & Conditioning, Mental Wellness etc) Lead the development of student-athletes' athletic growth and performance (technical, tactical and psychological) Support the student-athletes academic growth & success through to graduation Lead with a champions mindset founded in the Varsity Sport vision, mission and values Manage administration of a successful U SPORTS hockey program Work collaboratively with University Advancement & Development to drive revenue generation and philanthropic giving to enhance the men's hockey budget Strategic budget & fundraising management Maintain and develop community pathways for the enhancement of the men's hockey program (camps, youth & community engagement) Maintain high ethical standards of honesty, integrity and sportsmanship expected of all coaches of Varsity Sports Teams In addition to coaching duties, there is an expectation to contribute to the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies strategic plan through committee work and additional administrative roles as deemed appropriate.

Position Requirements

What You'll Bring to this Position:

Minimum undergraduate degree; Completion of National Coaching Certification Program Competition - High Performance (Competition - Development would be accepted if registered in High Performance or near completion of High Performance) or equivalent, is required; Minimum five years coaching experience at a college/university/pro or other elite levels. Combination of education and experience may be considered.


Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

Evidence of sufficient expertise and experience to deliver a hockey program to high performance student athletes including the development of a program of recruitment and retention; Ability to comply with University of Regina, USPORTS and Canada West rules and regulations; Demonstrated ability to act as an ambassador in the sport and hockey community; Strong communication, organizational, administrative, leadership and computer skills; Ability to develop and implement fundraising initiatives designed to enhance the delivery of the hockey program is an asset; and, Demonstrated strong interpersonal, critical thinking/problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
Physical Demands Pay Grade OOS 6 Salary Range $78,801 - $118,199 Annually Status Term Work Hours
Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
