About the Role
The Head Chef will oversee all culinary operations, from menu development and kitchen leadership to cost management and team mentorship. This is a hands-on, strategic role for a chef who understands both the artistry and the business of running a high-performing kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Menu Development: Create, refine, and maintain an elevated, Asian-inspired menu that aligns with No Vacancy's identity, seasonal produce, and guest expectations.
Leadership & Training: Lead and mentor a diverse BOH team; foster a positive, growth-oriented kitchen culture.
Quality & Consistency: Uphold high standards of taste, presentation, and execution across all services.
Operational Excellence: Oversee ordering, inventory, food costing, waste reduction, and supplier relationships.
Collaboration: Work closely with ownership/management on concept evolution, specials, events, and menu rollouts.
Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years experience in a senior kitchen role (Sous Chef or above), ideally in elevated or modern Asian-influenced cuisine.
Proven ability to lead, train, and inspire a kitchen team.
Strong understanding of cost control, ordering systems, and operational efficiency.
Creative approach to menu development with an eye for plating aesthetics and flavour balance.
Excellent communication skills and a calm, solution-oriented leadership style.
Passion for hospitality, guest experience, and culinary innovation.
