Universal Properties Limited, is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Head Chef to be based at 100 Midland Drive, Dieppe, NB.

Universal Properties, a division of J.D. Irving, Limited, is seeking a full-time Head Chef to work weekdays at their on-site cafeteria. The ideal candidate will be an energetic professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills and attention to details are a must.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and provide leadership to the kitchen team; organization workflow to provide best-in-class service to customers and engaging experience to kitchen team.
• Prepare / oversee preparation of daily specials and soups, Grab and Go and any special meals for caterings for in-house businesses. Prepare short order meals in a fast, friendly, and efficient manner.
• Ensure safe and healthy food handling practices are understood and followed by kitchen team and daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and temperature checks are completed.
• Participate in the preparation of weekly grocery requirements, providing items and quantities for purchase orders.
• Participate in the planning and execution of special events.
• Lead periodic inventory count and inventory/waste management.
• Research recipes and menu items for daily menus and special events. Meet or exceed annual targets for new menu items.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years in a kitchen supervisor role
• Graduate from a post-secondary cooking or culinary program
• Red Seal is an asset
• Be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional demeanor
• Have a thorough understanding of daily operations of a commercial kitchen
• Be creative with menu design and food presentation
• Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
• Be able to motivate staff to work together as a team to prepare and deliver quality products and service as well as collaboration with administration.
• The ability to forecast needs (food, staff hours, equipment, menus) for events
• Basic computer skills are an asset.
• Possess a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and own transportation
• Food Safety Certification
