POSITION SUMMARY:



Reporting to the President/Owner, is responsible for supporting/doing all senior full cycle accounting functions and ensuring effective, efficient and accurate financial accounting records. This position requires the ability to oversee the accounting and bookkeeping department, create and maintain processes that support financial discipline, be able to think outside the box and to work with minimum supervision. We use QuickBooks Online and this position requires a high level of understanding how job costing works.

The role provides a wide variety of accounting tasks that will broaden your skill set and help build a strong foundation for your accounting career.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Duties include but are not limited to:

Full Cycle Accounting



Ability to bring accounting records up to date and reconciled

Preparing WIP reports(work in progress report) for the bank, bonding company monthly for management

Supporting and mentoring bookeeper

Job costing & full cycle accounting (monthly, quarterly, yearly compilation)

Accounts payable, including critical review and follow-up with vendors and managing holdbacks/retention

Maintain a Work In Progress schedule and create monthly over/under billing entries

Reconciliation and control of T5018s vendor information, T4's, GST remittances

Recording and preparing accounts receivable statements including back charges

Variance analysis of income and expense accounts to prior years and to budgets

Preparation of yearly overhead budgets

Preparation of monthly financial statements and month-end binders

Writing accounting/operating procedures and work with customers to ensure proper implementation and compliance

Year-end reporting functions

Cash flow and forecasting models and projections

Contribute to a cooperative team environment with multiple cross functions

Supervision of bookkeeping, safety and admin staff and review of their work

QUALIFICATIONS:



5+ years of progressive construction accounting experience

Experience in job cost accounting and financial reporting

3+ years experience in a senior Controller position

Intermediate Excel, Word and PowerPoint computer skills

Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online Enterprise

Able to manage, adapt and change priorities at a moment's notice

Able to learn and adapt quickly, work under pressure while maintaining the highest level of accuracy

Experience in project scheduling systems and their integration with QuickBooks.

Very good with technology and software

Pay: $77,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
