Job description :
Phase 1 - Exploration Camp Setting

The Technicians assigned to mining services and repairs will safely and effectively diagnose and repair Caterpillar mining and earthmoving equipment in a timely manner while ensuring positive customer relations.

Note: (Camp premiums and Field Service rates apply)

• Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, programs and initiatives
• Diverse knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and resources
• Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
• Repair, allied or competitive Caterpillar earthmoving equipment as required, within the established time standards
• Prepare service reports and service documentation in an accurate and timely manner
• Participate as an integrated member of onsite mechanical staff
• Maintain positive customer and internal relations
• Comply with customer safety policies and procedures
• Undertake field assignments dispatched/supervised by the customer and or dealer staff – this will be a customer facing role.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules/shifts and call-outs to accommodate business needs
• Depending on business needs, flexibility to work from different work locations supporting Toromont mining customers.
• Willingness to work alongside various colleagues including the customer to train and develop team skills that support equipment performance metrics
• All equipment repairs and maintenance to be completed outside until Phase 2 begins - 2024

Note: All internals must notify their current manager of their interest in the position.
Job Qualifications :

• Post secondary education with a valid Heavy Equipment Technician licence
• Highly safety conscious with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a licenced technician supporting CAT mining equipment and more specifically 777-785, 6020-6030 shovels and BH fronts
• Team player willing to work in rotational shifts and on call schedules in support of business needs
• Advanced knowledge of electrical, powertrain and hydraulic systems
• Customer centric with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Focused, energetic, self-motivated and organized with superior attention to detail
• Proven ability to complete repairs/service within established time guidelines in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Highly proficient in computer skills (specifically, SIS, CAT ET, DBS, Microsoft Applications)
• Vast knowledge of warranty procedures on Caterpillar construction and mining equipment to support immediate decision based repairs STD, EXD, Emissions, GET, Frame and attachment
• Certified and competent with material handling equipment, EWP and man lift.
• Confident and determined to complete safe full service repairs and maintenance outdoors in the elements year round.
• Strong understanding of cutting, welding and fabrication
• Knowledge of competitor’s equipment would be an asset
• Competent in operation of large field and fuel lube trucks
• Valid Driver’s Licence with a clean Driver’s Abstract
