Job Description

McCuaig & Associates Engineering Ltd. is seeking a hazardous materials consultant to join our team at our Head Office in Burnaby, BC. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in hazardous materials collection and reporting.

About the Job:

Conduct air monitoring and inspections during asbestos and lead abatement projects Responsible for or coordinate hazmat sample collection Conduct and prepare site inspection reports Analyze asbestos air samples Conduct hazardous materials surveys and assessments Interpret findings and prepare technical reports Maintain air monitoring and sampling equipment Provide recommendations to meet WorkSafeBC regulations Ensure MAE's hazmat department's policies and procedures meet or exceed industry safety requirements.

About You:

Degree, diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety or other applicable areas is an asset At least five years working experience in hazmat assessment WorkSafe BC Level S Certification AHERA Building Inspector certificate is an asset Ability to freely travel to all points of the Lower Mainland as business requires Ability to wear PPE such as a respirator, hard hat, gloves, eyewear without restrictions Ability to climb a ladder Strong leadership, technical writing skills, and verbal communication skills including presentation skills Excellent attention to detail and strong work ethic Ability to engage in creative and critical solutions independently and in a team environment Check own work and work of others for accuracy and completeness Manage team to meet project budget and schedule Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities Receive and offer constructive criticism and communicate professionally Scale process, design and effort as required by various roles on projects Hold valid driver's license and be willing to undergo security screening
